Aircraft Ground Power Units (GPUs)
Freightquip supplies advanced 400Hz Ground Power Units from SAS, engineered to deliver clean, stable electrical power to aircraft during ground handling. By replacing APU use, these solid-state GPUs reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and minimise apron noise. The PV90-4 is SAS’s fourth-generation frequency converter, designed to provide continuous output with high operational reliability and a compact footprint—ideal for fixed installations across airport aprons and service bays.
Technical Overview:
The PV90-4 delivers 90kVA of continuous 400Hz power with an electrical efficiency greater than 95%. Designed for plug-and-play operation, it includes a modular internal architecture for simplified servicing, a 5.7″ anti-glare LCD interface, and oversized controls for gloved use. Available in horizontal or vertical configurations, it supports installation in fixed GSE pits, jet bridge mountings, or apron cabinets. The unit complies with ISO 6858 standards and supports all major aircraft types including A320neo, B737 MAX, A350, and B787.
